Southern Miss football falls short, unable to complete the upset of UTSA

Southern Miss football nearly pulled off the upset of the season Saturday, losing at No. 16 UTSA 27-17.

The Golden Eagles took their first lead in the second quarter on a Frank Gore Jr. rushing touchdown and even managed a tie at halftime. In the third quarter, the Roadrunners committed a turnover on downs with goal-to-go, but USM was unable to capitalize on any momentum. UTSA took the lead for good in the game’s final minutes, kicking a field goal following a Southern Miss fumble.

Southern Miss falls to 1-9, 0-6 in C-USA.
