In many ways, the stats and figures from Southern Miss’ cake walk 45-0 win over Southern University Saturday are immaterial.
What matters as much as the win, and what the Golden Eagles will wear like a feather in their cap the rest of this season, is the full-scale dominance on display at M.M. Roberts Stadium. It wasn’t perfect, by any stretch. Turnovers (two) and penalties (five for 35 yards) were still present.
But mistakes were few and far between, and Southern Miss did what Southern Miss is supposed to do in games like these.
