Picasso Nelson Jr. will miss the 2017 season due to an unspecified injury.
The senior Southern Miss defensive back took to Instagram to relay the news. “Taking the season off, I need recovery,” he posted.
Nelson did not play in either of the Golden Eagles’ first two games this season. Senior Kelsey Douglas and freshman Tyler Barnes have helped fill the void left by his absence. In his first three years, Nelson made 31 starts. He has 143 career tackles, four interceptions and 14 pass break-ups.
