The University of Southern Mississippi’s soccer team’s annual pink game for breast cancer awareness ended in a 1-1 draw on Oct. 20, against the UAB Blazers in Hattiesburg.
Southern Miss sophomore Stephanie Garcia scored first for the Golden Eagles in the 63rd minute of the second half to give Southern Miss a 1-0 lead. UAB’s Rachel Green responded by scoring in the 86th minute to send the game into overtime.
At the end of the first overtime, UAB’s Amy Brewer appeared to make a game-winning goal as time expired, but officials reversed the call after determining that time had expired before the shot.
