Southern Miss baseball earned a place in its seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament when it won the Sun Belt Conference title on Sunday.
That wasn't enough for the Golden Eagles to get the nod as a host for a second successive year, though. Monday, the NCAA announced that USM will be heading to the Auburn Regional, where it will take on No. 3 seed Samford in the first game of the double-elimination format as the No. 2 seed. No. 1 Auburn will take on No. 4 Penn as the other two teams in the regional.
