Southern Miss has been active on the recruiting circuit, hauling in three verbal commitments within the last week.
The headliner of that group is Gulfport athlete TQ Newsome, a three-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite.
Newsome probably ends up moving to running back on the next level, where at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds he profiles nicely as a power back. Operating as QB in Gulfport’s run-dominated pistol wing-T on offense, Newsome showed good skills at making decisions with the ball, finding the hole and running past defenders.
