The always-close rivalry between Southern Miss and Ole Miss baseball will be getting a national spotlight.
The Golden Eagles (47-17) host the Rebels (35-22) in the Hattiesburg Super Regional beginning Saturday (3 p.m., ESPNU) with a spot in the College World Series on the line. These in-state foes have already played twice this year to a stalemate; both teams have one win and 11 runs.
But the even nature of this rivalry goes deeper. Since 2007, Ole Miss and Southern Miss have played 32 times. Ole Miss has 16 wins and Southern Miss has 16 wins.
