HATTIESBURG — Southern Miss football landed a potential headliner for its Class of 2023 Tuesday in the form of offensive tackle prospect Tanner Welch.
Welch's .8593 rating from the 247Sports composite is the third-highest of any Golden Eagle commit since 2020, topped only by Camron Harrell and Ty Keyes.
Welch attends Northwest Rankin High School in Flowood, and stands at 6-foot-7, 320 pounds, according to his 247Sports profile.
He selected the Golden Eagles over Louisville and Tulane.
Welch becomes the 10th member of Southern Miss' 2023 recruiting class and the second to make a pledge on Tuesday, joining linebacker Jacob Johnson.
