Nick Sandlin threw his second straight complete game shutout in Southern Miss’ 6-0 win at UAB Friday.
The junior right-handed pitcher allowed six hits, struck out nine and walked two against the Blazers. Sandlin (7-0), who lowered his earned run average to 0.88, has not allowed an earned run since March 23, a span of 32 u2153 innings.
Luke Reynolds staked the 11th-ranked Golden Eagles (33-12, 17-4 Conference USA) to a 2-0 lead in the first inning with his 11th home run of the season.
The victory is Southern Miss’ 10th out of its last 11 games.
