Nick Mullens is still bothered by the outcome of last season’s Conference USA Championship.
Disappointed in the way he and his Southern Miss teammates performed in the 45-28 loss at Western Kentucky. Upset by his own effort — 181 yards passing, one touchdown, three interceptions, 50.0 completion percentage and four sacks. Eight months later, the senior is still perturbed.
So the Hoover, Alabama, native has spent the entire offseason allowing that frustration to fuel him toward what he hopes will be a monumental senior season and a reversal of fortune come December.
“That Western Kentucky game still sits on my shoulders every day,” Mullens said.
