Southern Miss, known for making plays against teams where they come in as underdogs, snapped Marshall’s 17-game winning streak on Saturday, 8-0 in doubleheader fashion.
“Marshall’s been close to being beat a few times but it doesn’t matter, they came out with the ‘W’ and the other team got the ‘L,’” said Head Coach Wendy Hogue. “Today, it went our way.”
The Southern Miss softball team had been struggling against teams of late, dropping five out of their last eight games before the Marshall series, knew that they had to make a statement coming into the series.
