Southern Miss won its fourth game in a row Wednesday, beating Tulane 12-3.
Senior Mason Irby led the way with four hits and three runs batted in, while sophomore Matt Wallner homered for the second time in three games. The Golden Eagles improve to 12-4. The Green Wave falls to 8-10.
Sophomore right-hander Walker Powell (1-1) picked up the win, tossing six innings of shutout baseball. He gave up four hits, struck out six and did not walk a batter.
