Shortly after Todd Monken announced he was leaving the Southern Miss football program, Bill McGillis made it known how imperative it would be to move through the process of finding and hiring a replacement would be.
Minutes after the third-year football coach informed the Golden Eagles he had accepted the offensive coordinator position with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, the Southern Miss athletic director laid out his plan for filling the vacancy before quickly putting it into action.
First, McGillis told reporters the search would begin immediately and he hoped to have the process completed in less than a week.
