In addition to the women's basketball teams from neighboring states being Conference USA foes, the Lady Eagles and Lady Bulldogs squared off less than a month ago. On Jan. 2, Southern Miss scored a 10-point victory at home over Louisiana Tech.
Joye Lee-McNelis hopes that high level of familiarity pays off when the teams separated by less than 250 miles meet again today. The Lady Eagles (10-6, 3-2 in Conference USA) will face the Lady Techsters (8-8, 3-2) at noon in Ruston, La.
"The great thing is we just played them," Lee-McNelis said.
