In the first day of the UNF Collegiate, Southern Miss shot 301 and 299 to finish the day tied for fifth place with Daytona State College. The Lady Eagles sat out of the top spot by five strokes, which was held by both The University of Memphis and Old Dominion at 596.
Sophomores Henriette Syr and Valentina Haupt both shot 149, leading the way for Southern Miss, which was tied at 13th overall. Syr also sunk the team’s only eagle on the day at hole 14 during the second round.
Senior Kelly Erasmus also completed a strong first round shooting a 74, and Junior Nichada Satasuk shot an even par in the second round with 72.
