The Southern Miss men's basketball team used the 2019-20 season to rebuild.
Under first-year head coach Jay Ladner, the Golden Eagles welcomed 11 newcomers onto the roster, the sixth-most in the nation, according to Southern Miss athletics.
Southern Miss finished the season with a record of 9-22 overall and 5-13 in Conference-USA. In a season-ending press conference, Ladner reflected on his first year.
"We're disappointed. Our fans should be too," Ladner said. "One of our goals was to make the Conference USA tournament, and we didn't make it. I'm a positive thinker in that we finished higher than we were picked.
