Southern Miss football got off to a strong start on the recruiting trail after National Signing Day in 2016.
Jay Hopson and his coaching staff carried that momentum into the summer, securing commitments from more than a dozen prospects by late August. Then, things quieted down for much of the fall.
But the Golden Eagles have picked up some steam as next week’s signing day (Wednesday) nears.
Most recently, Southern Miss flipped Pearl River Community College defensive back Tyler Jack (5-foot-10, 180 pounds). The former George County standout had previously been committed to Troy.
Also, within the past week, Hopson and company have secured pledges from Tyler Junior College offensive lineman Jimmie Terry (6-4, 330), a former Madison Central star and Louisville signee, as well as Callaway star defensive back Emanuel Dabney (6-1, 170) and Boga Ciega offensive lineman Bryce Foxworth (6-4, 280).
