HATTIESBURG - Southern Miss’ rebound this football season yielded plenty of positive results.
Among them was the individual recognition that came recently when 10 Golden Eagles landed on the All-Conference USA First or Second Teams.
And although Todd Monken’s squad returns 75 percent of its current two-deep depth chart, seven of those that received top league honors will officially depart following the Heart of Dallas Bowl on Dec. 26. So the number of holes the coaching staff must fill isn’t great, but the size of the holes is quite daunting.
A pair of position groups stands to be hit the hardest as Southern Miss’ receiving and linebacking corps will each lose two-thirds of its starters.
