The Southern Miss volleyball team lost its first contest in four sets against the Oklahoma Sooners, but rebounded to sweep Nicholls State in three sets at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Classic in New Orleans on Saturday.
Southern Miss won the first set against the Sooners by a score of 29- 27. Despite the early positive start, nine blocks and a combined 60 kills for the Sooners allowed them to win the last three sets by scores of 25- 18, 25-17 and 26-24, respectively.
Catherine Repsher lead the Golden Eagles in kills against Oklahoma, while Alexis Coombs provided two solo blocks and five block assists for the team.
