Golden Eagles sticking with the plan

HATTIESBURG - Southern Miss has gotten this far by treating every game the same.

And it’s not about to change now.

The second-seeded Conference USA Tournament champion Golden Eagles (40-18) will square off against No. 3 seed South Alabama (40-20) at 11 a.m. Friday (ESPN3) in the first game of the Tallahassee regional at Florida State. It’s the team’s first NCAA Tournament game since 2011.

The players are aware of that but are doing their best to focus solely on the Jaguars.

“We’ve just got to come out and play the game,” said junior outfielder Dylan Burdeaux.
