Now that Southern Miss has clinched its sixth win with Saturday's 39-7 romp over UTEP, the Golden Eagles are officially in wait-and-see mode when it comes to finding a post-season home.
But the question should be if, not when, the Golden Eagles will get an invitation to fill one of the 78 potential bowl slots.
Conference USA has six bowl tie-ins and seven bowl-eligible teams. The other six — UAB, Marshall, Louisiana Tech, Florida International, Middle Tennessee and North Texas — all have at least seven wins and are assured preference over Southern Miss (6-5, 5-3 C-USA).
