It's that time of year to crown Mississippi's best college baseball player.
The 2019 C Spire Ferriss Trophy will be awarded to one of five finalists at a Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame luncheon on May 20. There are two Mississippi State players, two Ole Miss players and one Southern Miss player up for the award.
Mississippi State seniors Jake Mangum and Ethan Small have been instrumental in the Bulldogs becoming a consensus top-five team this season. Mangum, a center-fielder, is batting .392 and is seven hits away from eclipsing 100 for the second-straight season.
