HATTIESBURG - Two of the more critical components of any football team’s offense are its tackles.
Typically, those are the players tasked with keeping the opponents’ quickest and most elusive defensive linemen away from the quarterback and out of the backfield.
And Southern Miss is starting over at both left and right tackle this season. Gone are seniors Rashod Hill and Norman Price who, along with center Cameron Tom, were the only offensive linemen to start all 14 games for the Golden Eagles last season.
Since spring began under first-year coach Jay Hopson, however, a pair of players have separated themselves from the pack.
