HATTIESBURG - Southern Miss put the 2016 baseball season to bed less than a week ago.
But this week’s Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, which begins Thursday, means the Golden Eagle coaching staff and fan base are already focused on how it may affect next season’s roster.
First things first, though.Seniors Tim Lynch and Jake Winston are the players that are most likely to be picked that have exhausted their eligibility. Lynch led the Golden Eagles this season with a .365 batting average and 59 RBIs. He also clubbed 10 home runs, good enough for second on the team.
