The Southern Miss’ defense has been an unsung hero for the Golden Eagles for the majority of the 2018 football season, and against Marshall they made their presence known.
As solid as Southern Miss’ defense has been for the majority of the season, turnovers have been hard to come by. However, in the team’s 26-24 win over Marshall, the turnovers came at the most crucial time. The Golden Eagles grabbed four turnovers against the Thundering Herd, which is roughly a fourth of the season’s turnovers.
“Our defense takes a lot of pride in stopping the run and its pass capability,” Hopson said in the postgame press conference.
