A Dandy Dozen basketball honoree from last season verbally committed Tuesday to Southern Miss.
New Hope 2017 guard Terryonte Thomas chose the Golden Eagles during a ceremony at the high school over offers from Louisiana Tech and the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Thomas had said in July that Louisiana Tech was his leader, but Southern Miss then swooped in. VCU, South Alabama and Murray State had also been in the mix.
Thomas, who also plays football, has always been able to score, but it is an ideal time to get on board with Thomas because he is blossoming into more of a facilitator who rebounds well for his position.
