The Gulfport native posted on social media Wednesday night after Mississippi's state auditor reported he received $1.1 million in welfare funds for speaking engagements he didn't attend.
In Favre's statement posted to Facebook and Twitter from his verified accounts, the Hall of Famer said he was unaware the money came out of funds not intended for speaking engagements and he pledged to return the full amount to the state.
