Braley's slam paces Golden Eagles

HATTIESBURG - Southern Miss used a high-powered offensive attack that included 11 runs on 14 hits, including a Taylor Braley grand slam, to breeze past Conference USA foe UTSA 11-2 on Friday night. While Braley put on a show with a three-hit performance, it was only possible thanks to Southern Miss starting pitcher Cord Cockrell.

Cockrell pitched five innings, striking out four and only gave up one run on three hits to earn his fourth victory on the season.

Through three innings Cockrell was able to sit down nine batters in a row in front of the home crowd before Sklyer Valentine singled into right to break up the streak.
