Southern Miss is bowl eligible for the fourth consecutive season.
The Golden Eagles picked up their magical sixth win Saturday on the road in their last regular season game, rolling past hapless UTEP 39-7 like a tumbleweed through the Chihuahuan Desert.
They'll have to wait to see how the NCAA bowl picture shakes out, but the Golden Eagles (6-5, 5-3 C-USA West) should be in line for one of the 80 spots reserved for teams that reach the six-win plateau.
The achievement wasn't lost on Southern Miss coach Jay Hopson, who celebrated with his team on the field and in the locker room.
