HATTIESBURG — University of Southern Mississippi President has appointed Deputy Athletic Director Jeff Mitchell as interim director of athletics.
USM President Rodney Bennett sent out an email Wednesday outlining his three-point plan to replace Jon Gilbert, who announced to leave Southern Miss to take an identical post at East Carolina earlier this week.
Bennett also announced plans to promote Associate Athletic Director Brian Morrison to deputy director of athletics. He also said he plans to go on a regional tour to listen to the fans and donors for input on the direction of the athletic department.
