The preseason hype around Southern Miss sophomore Matt Wallner continues to build.
Coming off a monstrous freshman year (.336 average, 19 home runs, 63 runs batted in, 2-0 pitching record, 3 saves, 1.84 earned run average), Wallner has earned consensus preseason All-American status. Last week, the Minnesota native also became just the second Golden Eagle in school history to land a spot on the Golden Spikes Award watch list.
