SIU softball walks 10 in loss to Butler

Freshman pitcher Nicole Doyle made her collegiate debut on Saturday in a 10-2 loss to Butler at Charlotte West Stadium. Doyle picked up a no decision after throwing 3.1 innings allowing five runs on five hits, six walks and three strikeouts.

SIU (8-6) lost its second game of the Coach B Classic against Butler (7-8), 10-2 in six innings in part because of 10 allowed base on balls.

Saluki pitchers sophomore Savanna Dover, who walked four, and freshman Nicole Doyle, who walked six, combined to reach that total. By the time the Salukis' second game began, the temperature at Charlotte West Stadium had dropped almost 10 degrees.
