Tommy Widdrington is no longer the most famous face in his family despite a football career that saw him play alongside Alan Shearer and Matt Le Tissier at Southampton.
Tommy’s son Kai is adored by millions of Strictly Come Dancing fans as one of the show’s most popular professionals, having earned his first newspaper coverage as a baby, thanks to his father.
‘I scored against Leeds a week after he was born and told the reporter my good news,’ says Tommy. ‘Next day, there was the headline: “Kai-boshed!”
‘Maybe it was written in the stars he’d go on to be well known.
