Former England star Kevin Pietersen insists he wouldn't have picked Ben Stokes to captain the team for their upcoming Test series against West Indies - saying Jos Buttler would have been a better choice.
Chris Silverwood's side will finally return to action as they begin their series in Southampton on Wednesday, but Pietersen took issue with Stokes leading the team in place of Joe Root - who will be at the birth of his second child.
Pietersen said while Stokes might be England's best player, that doesn't make him the best candidate for the captaincy, saying he will face much more scrutiny and a much heavier workload.
