Ipswich 2-1 Sunderland: Conor Chaplin leads Tractor Boys to victory to maintain Championship title charge after Southampton close in with promotion in sight

Conor Chaplin was the shortest man on the Portman Road pitch but rose higher than the rest to head Ipswich to a hard-fought 2-1 win against Sunderland at Portman Road.

Standing at 5ft 5in, most of Chaplin’s eight league goals this season have come from his wand of a right foot. But he was in the right place at the right time to head home his ninth of the campaign from a Leif Davies free-kick.

Chaplin’s winner stole the show on an evening that looked set to belong to Sunderland’s Jack Clarke.
