Ex-Southampton defender Francis Benali completes marathon in his GARDEN as he raises over £10,000 for charity amid coronavirus lockdown... and is joined by club legend Matt Le Tissier as he runs in several classic Saints shirts

Southampton legend Francis Benali has completed his lockdown marathon from his own garden in an array of old Saints shirts.

Benali, who played at Southampton for 16 years, has gained a reputation as quite the extreme fundraiser since he hung up his boots and raised over £10,000 for NHS charities and the Saints Foundation.

The former defender was inspired to run the length of a marathon from his back garden on a treadmill by Captain Tom Moore, the 99-year-old who has raised more than £27million for NHS Charities Together, by walking 100 laps of his garden.
