Donny van de Beek 'will be important' for Manchester United, insists Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager gives much-maligned midfielder hope of featuring a lot this season... despite not playing a single minute so far

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has intimated that Donny van de Beek does have a role to play at Manchester United this season despite not having kicked a ball in a competitive outing so far.

Van de Beek has been an unused substitute in both of the Red Devils' Premier League matches so far this season in the 5-1 win over rivals Leeds and Sunday's 1-1 draw at Southampton.

The Holland international has watched on as fellow central midfielders Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic have all played in one of the two pivot positions, while Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes have been deployed in more attacking roles.
