Danny Ings has reportedly rejected a lucrative new four-year contract with Southampton in the hope of earning a move to a top six club.
The Saints have been trying to get their star striker to put pen to paper on a new deal since the start of the year with the 28-year-old having just one season left on his current contract.
But The Athletic report that Ings has turned down their latest offer, which would have made him the highest paid player in the club's history.
According to the report, Ings turned down the four-year deal because he wants to test himself at a club competing at the top of the table, either this summer or next.
