Bournemouth's Scott Parker first Premier League boss axed in August since 2004

Scott Parker is the first Premier League manager sacked in August since 2004 after Bournemouth brutally axed him in the wake of their 9-0 thrashing at Liverpool.

Despite it being just four games into the new season, the Cherries dispensed with the manager who'd guided them back into the top-flight.

He becomes the first Premier League boss to be sacked in the first month of the season since Newcastle got rid of Sir Bobby Robson and Southampton axed Paul Sturrock 18 years ago.

Bournemouth have sacked manager Scott Parker just four matches into the new season
Legend Sir Bobby Robson was sacked by Newcastle United a few weeks into 2004-05 season
Paul Sturrock was fired by Southampton during that same month following poor results

Other managers have departed during August since then - Tony Pulis left Crystal Palace by mutual consent two days before the start of the 2014-15 season, while Martin O'Neill resigned the Aston Villa job in 2010.
