Southampton interim boss Tonda Eckert praised attacker Adam Armstrong for his hand in their convincing win over Charlton on Saturday.

Saints thrashed the Addicks, scoring five times in the first half in a game where all the goals came in the opening 45 minutes.

Armstrong shone on the pitch, scoring once and assisting two of the other goals.

"We are very very happy to have Adam [Armstrong] as a character," Eckert told BBC Radio Solent.

"As a player on the team – with the quality he brings, it's very nice to have him up there and he recognises moments like nobody else.
