TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 23, 2021 – University of South Florida women's soccer freshman Madeleine Penman-Derstine earned her first American Athletic Conference weekly honor as the league's rookie of the week, the organization announced on Monday.
"I'm so excited for Madeleine that she was able to step on the field and make such an impact for us in her first collegiate games," head coach Denise Schilte-Brown said. "She's got a very bright future ahead of her with so much potential. I'm proud that she's being recognized this early in her career."
Penman-Derstine (Toronto, Quebec, Canada) made her first collegiate start and scored her first collegiate goal, the game-winner in the second half, in the season opener against Florida.
