If Coach Willie Taggart honors a comeback player of the year in 2015, Countryside High alumnus Mike Love might be the early front-runner.
A third-year sophomore who fractured his foot at the end of an otherwise breakthrough spring camp, Love has recovered faster than most anticipated and is listed as second-team strong-side defensive end behind senior captain Eric Lee.
He enters Saturday's season opener against Florida A&M listed at 6-foot-4, 266 pounds -- 21 more than his 2014 listed weight.
"That's somebody you should watch out for," FS Tajee Fullwood said.
The Tampa Bay Times' 2011 Pinellas County Defensive Player of the Year, Love has appeared in only four college games.
