Tampa, Fla., May 3, 2022 – University of South Florida track and field student-athlete Romaine Beckford was named the American Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Beckford (Portland, Jamaica) won the competition in the high jump at the nationally renowned Penn Relays last weekend. His leap of 2.23 meters (7-3.75) was the second-best jump in USF history and the best in The American this season.
The mark also sits as the fourth best in the country this year and ranks second among those in the east region for postseason qualification.
