Fueled by 17 points from redshirt junior Laquincy Rideau and two clutch free throws at the regulation buzzer by Justin Brown, the USF men’s basketball team knocked off Austin Peay 74-70 in overtime on Monday night at the Yuengling Center to improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2014.
“This is a really good win for us,” head coach Brian Gregory said. “To grind out the win, to make the mistakes that we made in critical times...guys will learn and will build that connection.”
Following an early 7-0 run, the Governors (1-2) jumped out to a 12-5 lead at the first media timeout as the Bulls went nearly six minutes without a field goal midway through the first half.
