University of South Florida coach Willie Taggart interviewed Friday with South Carolina officials for the Gamecocks' head-coaching job, a source told ESPN.com.
Taggart has been at USF three years and guided the Bulls to an 8-4 record this season, including seven wins in their last eight games and upsets of East Carolina, Cincinnati and AAC East Division champion Temple.
South Carolina officials have also already had preliminary conversations with Will Muschamp, and he's scheduled to interview formally this week, sources told ESPN.
