USF baseball redshirt sophomore lefty Shane McClanhan was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the week on Monday for his opening night performance against No. 6 North Carolina.
McClanahan threw six innings of scoreless baseball against the sixth-ranked Tar Heels in a 4-3 USF win on Friday night.
The Bulls lefty was consistently at 94-96 on the radar gun and even hit 99 on his way to striking out 11 Tar Heels, allowing only three hits. It was the fourth career double-digit strikeout game for the Bulls ace.
McClanahan racked up four preseason awards including the Perfect Game All-American second team, the Baseball America first team, the College Sports Madness fourth team and the the D1Baseball.
