Florida's Turnpike and Sawgrass Expressway may soon get express lanes in certain stretches – making them essentially toll roads within toll roads.
It would be a first in the U.S., and would be on portions of the highways that will be widened in the future.
The reason: The state has dictated that all new "through" lanes built on its expressways or interstates be tolled.
