TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 18, 2022 – University of South Florida track and field junior was named the American Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Beckford (Portland, Jamaica) finished first in the high jump at the Commodore Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt. Among a field that included competitors from Auburn, Georgia Tech and Indiana, the junior posted a jump of 2.16 meters (7-1), which tied USF's record set by Chase Meyers in 2013.
The South Florida track and field team is back in action on Jan. 29 as they travel to the PNC Bank Lenny Lyles Invitational in Louisville, Ky.
