Crews from Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue were in the Riverland community of the city before dawn Wednesday where, officials said, two homes were on fire.
Firefighters were called to the fires along Tortugas Lane and Riverland Road at about 4 a.m.
The scene is just north of Interstate 595 and east of State Road 7.
There is no immediate word about injuries, the extent of damage and the cause of the fires.
