Tamarac man charged with fatally shooting his sleeping wife

A man who investigators say fatally shot his pregnant wife while she slept has been charged with premeditated murder, records show.

Jason Browdy, 35, told investigators the shooting was accidental, the Broward Sheriff's Office said on Tuesday.

The Sheriff's Office said Monique Browdy was shot once in the head at about 6:30 a.m. Her husband called authorities to report the shooting at the townhouse in the 5700 block of Tuscany Terrace. She was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale in critical condition.

More than six hours later, Monique Browdy, 33, was dead. Her younger sisters said she was about four months pregnant.
